Timeline 2019-2023

Step by step, we are working towards sustainable care. In this sustainability report, you will read about the steps we have taken in the fiscal year 2024-2025. However, even before 2024, sustainable and socially responsible initiatives were already being implemented. Below is an overview.

In collaboration with TEVA, consumers can return pharmaceutical waste at BENU pharmacies (TEVA return boxes).

Started electrifying employee lease cars.

Installed 18 charging stations with dual connections at the headquarters in Maarssen and at the Fulfilment Centre in Eindhoven.

Began route optimisation for pharmaceutical distribution.

Started paperless operations in pharmacies, such as digital prescription processing and electronic packing slips. By digitising prescriptions, not only has paper consumption been significantly reduced, but also the use of printers and toners. Additionally, physical storage, transport to archives, and the eventual destruction of paper documents have become unnecessary. Besides a more efficient workflow, this also provides environmental benefits.

Mapped out the CO2 footprint.

For employees with office functions at Brocacef Group, the 'New Working' arrangement was introduced. This means they work an average of 50% of their weekly hours at the office and 50% from home.

Completion of a sustainable and multifunctional Fulfilment Centre in Amsterdam. The building is now 85% CO2-neutral and has received the BREEAM Excellent sustainability certificate. For Brocacef Group, this means a reduction in CO2 emissions of about 19%.

Completion of a sustainable distribution centre for Brocacef Healthcare Logistics in Ede. The new building was constructed according to the sustainable BREEAM guidelines and has achieved Excellent status. The building is 33% CO2-neutral.

Committed to the Green Deal Sustainable Healthcare.

Transitioned to 100% green electricity (European wind).

Started electrifying 60 B2C delivery vehicles.

Began installing LED lighting in distribution centres and a large portion of BENU pharmacies.
