OUR VISION ON

Sustainability

Brocacef Group plays an important role in society. We know that if we want to be the healthcare partner people consciously choose, this also means that we must contribute positively to create healthy conditions for people, the environment and society. After all, we all depend on these. A healthy life starts with a healthy living environment. That is why Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an important part of our strategic programme.

CO₂-neutral operations

As a healthcare company, Brocacef Group has an impact on healthcare and on people. Unfortunately, for the time being, this contribution inevitably goes hand in hand with CO₂ emissions and their harmful impact on the global climate and our living environment. By focusing on reducing these emissions, we can make our efforts in healthcare more valuable to people and their living environment.

Our CSR efforts are closely linked to the vision and policies of our parent company, PHOENIX Group. The interaction between the economy, the environment and social responsibility forms an essential basis for sustainable business success in all countries
in which PHOENIX Group operates. It also provides the foundation for our own initiatives and helps us make a positive impact across the Group.

Environment, people and society

In 2023, the current CSR policy plan was adopted, defining three key pillars:

- Investing in measures for a better environment

-Equal opportunities for people and employees

-A fair society (compliance with laws and regulations)

We are working on a new policy plan for the 2027-2030 period, in which we will further strengthen our ambitions and build on the foundation we have laid in recent years.

Green Deal Sustainable Healthcare 3.0

In 2023, Brocacef Group joined the Green Deal Sustainable Healthcare 3.0. As part of this agreement, all parties committed to working on five themes. We are actively working towards these commitments.

1.

A more active focus on promoting the health of people and employees.

In 2025-2026, we actively promoted health in our pharmacies through health checks, medication reviews and lifestyle advice. In doing so, we contribute to preventing illness and reducing the use of healthcare services and medicines.

2.

Reducing CO₂ emissions, with the aim of achieving a 55% reduction in CO₂ emissions by 2030 and climate-neutral buildings and transport by 2050.

In 2025-2026, we continued working towards the climate targets of the Green Deal Sustainable Healthcare. Brocacef Group has also set the additional ambition of becoming CO₂-neutral by 2030, providing further direction for our investments in energy-efficient buildings and sustainable transport.

3.

Increasing knowledge and awareness.

We regularly draw attention to sustainable healthcare, both internally and externally. Important information and good examples are systematically shared through our internal communication channels.

4.

Reducing the use of primary raw materials, with the aim of producing 25% less residual waste by 2026 and achieving maximum circularity in healthcare by 2050.

We focus on optimising inventory management in our pharmacies and wholesale operations. Together with our customers, we also explore opportunities to reduce waste, for example by digitalising processes.

5.

Reducing the environmental impact of medicines.

We encourage our customers to return unused medicines to pharmacies for the safe collection of pharmaceutical waste. Through our internal ‘Green Team’, improvement initiatives are developed to reduce our environmental impact. We also participated in the RIVM Network Day on Pharmaceutical Residues in the Environment, where we contributed ideas on how to reduce pharmaceutical residues in water.
